What to Expect
Social Explorers is a 9 Week group program for children aged 6 to 8 with a focus on building skills for social participation and connection.
Sessions happen at our nature-based site in Thornbury, with a backup indoor space for when the weather isn't playing ball.
Explicit Teaching
Each session begins with a fun mat time where we explicitly teach skills such as social regulation, connecting with others, and negotiation during play. These are taught through use of storybooks, puppets and activities.
Hands on Application
Skills are reinforced through play-based activities Including fort building, woodworking and imaginative play. Children are supported to practice and apply the new skills they've learned.
Expert Facilitation
Led by a qualified speech pathologist with additional training and expertise in social participation, and supported by an experienced allied health assistant.

Connected to your child's world
Parents are welcome to join the beginning of each session where we teach the skills. Resources and session notes are sent home to families and can also be shared with teachers or other professionals to keep everyone informed about the skills your child is working on.
What is Included
A 20 minute intake call
An intake call before sessions begin to discuss your child's strengths and goals and to ensure they have a great time in the group.
9 weeks of sessions
Sessions run during the school term and are 1.5 hours long each.
Weekly Session notes
a summary of what was covered each week, including insights about your child and how they are using their new social toolkit in play.
Weekly Resources
Including books, activities, and practical ideas to help reinforce new skills at home and school
Written Report
A written report at the end of the program summarising your child's progress, with strategies for home and school to help carry learning over into everyday life
Additional phone calls with the speech pathologist can be booked separately if needed.

Program fee
$2,200 for the full 9 week program
Payment plan available Prefer to split the cost? We offer two payments of $1,100 — due at enrolment and at week 5.
For self and plan-managed NDIS participants, a portion of the fee is claimable. Get in touch to discuss.
